Rwanda, with Kigali as capital, has beautiful countryside views and a very varied fauna. It is best known however for the rare silverback mountain gorillas.
Rwanda is a country of hills, lakes, rivers and wide savannahs and is situated between Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda and Congo. It is visited for its natural beauty. In the east of Rwanda, for example, there is the Akagera National Park, which is inhabited by lions, elephants and hippopotamuses. In the west, you can relax, sunbathe and go swimming in Lake Kivu.
The Parc National des Volcans is situated in the north of Rwanda and is well known as a reserve for mountain gorillas. You can go on an accompanied hike through the jungle in search of the magnificent mountain gorillas. During your walk, you can enjoy looking at the colourful birds, of which there are about 650 different species. But the silverback mountain gorillas are really the main reason for visiting Rwanda.
